Usually the sugarhouse is a social place, with neighbors and friends stopping by to chat, carry a few arm loads of wood, and taste some fresh syrup. Kids are found playing queen of the mountain on the snowbanks and splashing in the mud puddles. This year, just as sugaring was taking off for the season, COVID19 started seriously circulating and we shut down the farm to visitors. We hunkered down as a 3-some and cranked out some delicious maple syrup. While the sugarhouse was quieter than usual, we had fun, and Eleanor was an incredible helper, carrying wood, keeping us entertained, and, of course, tasting the product (repeatedly!).

Since we spent many evenings in the sugarhouse, we tried various methods of cooking while boiling, some more successful than others. The hot dogs roasted in the arch were the most popular.

We have replenished the shelves and have sizes from pint to gallon available. We can ship anywhere in the US via USPS flat rate boxes, and can arrange for local syrup deliveries. If you would like fresh, delicious Sweet Bear Farm maple syrup, email us! sweetbearfarm@gmail.com

Stay safe everyone, we hope to be able open the farm back up to friends and family in the coming months, once the pandemic has been controlled and life can return to some sense of normalcy.
