It’s been a busy summer so far. The cow herd currently numbers 6 and growing, with Amelia due to calve in late august/early September. The chicken flock is presently 6 hens with their protector: Little Monty, and 3 chicks who are 2 months old and recently moved to their new house by the swing. The pig herd is happily working on the hillside by the pond. Marigold, Violet, Gertrude, Bella and Sam the boar enjoy munching weeds and rolling in the mud. All the ladies looks pregnant, due in late August and September. It’s looking to be a mess of piglets in the barn again!

Bella was out wandering recently, digging up dandelions from the yard, and playing with her friend Mabel….

Sylvie using the Ranger as a scratching post.
Enjoying some of last year’s hay before moving to fresh pasture.

We continue to push back the margins of the pasture to reclaim more usable grazing land, and in the process harvesting firewood for the house and evaporator.

If you’re in the area, come on by for a walk on the trails, a dip in the pond, a visit with the animals, or a restock of maple syrup!
