With a temp of 36 F this morning, it was time for that classic Vermont ritual: the first firing of the wood stove. Luckily, there was no frost last night, so the garden is safe for a while longer, hopefully buying time for the sweet potatoes and  winter squashes to finish maturing. Brussel sprouts and parsnips both need a frost before harvest, but it would be good to allow a bit more growing time. The pigs aren’t big fans of the cold temps, but they snuggle together down in their hay and do well. We’re in process of working on more permanent winter housing for them, updates on that when we have tangible progress. Meanwhile, Eleanor learned how to feed Forrest from her high chair this morning. Both she and Forrest are big fans of this development!
